Best fish and chips in the North Long Beach. So relieved I finally found a decent place that does not totally overcook the fish!! Shrimp clean and perfectly cooked. French fries were good too. Prices were very reasonable.

I recently revisited Don's Chicken and Fish and was pleasantly surprised! My initial experience was a bit underwhelming, but this time the food was truly awesome. The flavors were spot-on, and everything from the crispy chicken to the perfectly seasoned fish left me impressed. I highly recommend giving this place a try--it's definitely worth a second look! Parking could be very difficult. The pricing for the fish combo I got wasn't too bad. I got a piece of fried chicken on the side. If you're looking for takeout, only this place is great they indoor seating the place looks like it needs a little updating. Service was just OK!!!

This place was delicious. I'm from New Orleans, so I know my seafood, and this certainly made me feel like I was at home! The portion was a bit small but packed with flavor!

I have ordered twice through Grubhub, and my order was packed nicely, hot and fresh. i've had the fried snapper, the fried catfish and the shrimp and all were excellent. I prefer the potato salad over the macaroni salad, fries were crispy. When I'm craving fried fish and don't want to leave home, this will definitely be on my rotation ongoing.

This is the kind of creative hole in the wall that we can't help give five stars to, every time. Like, a fried chicken AND fried fish spot? connected to a liquor store?? Occupying an entire strip mall L-shaped building painted bright purple and yellow with a mural of Kobe? Everything tasted like they were fried moments before we bit into them, which they were. The folks at Don's fry their food fresh with every order, and you can tell by how juicy and not-mushy the fish is. The hush puppies had a good crisp but avoided being too dense on the inside. The fries were as good as fries get. The tartar sauce was not cloying, and the hot sauce struck the delicate balance between hot, tangy, sour, just diluted enough to match the fish but not too runny. One constructive criticism: they bread their fish like one would bread fried chicken, and it's a bit thick for the more delicate meat. I would suggest they experiment with a slightly lighter breading for their seafood, especially since they go through the trouble of offering fresh snapper, catfish, oysters, etc The whole operation is a Korean American family business, based on the conversation I overheard in the language. I was disappointed to not find any Soju or Korean snacks beyond ramen, but maybe that doesn't sell at the border of Long Beach and Compton.
